The first John H. Zimmerman Memorial Bocce Tournament will be held on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, 17 May 2025, from 0900-1300 in the Pool Greenspace. All are invited. If you want to get a team together, you should have 4 people per team with a team name. Medals for 1st , 2nd, and 3rd place will be award to the top 3 teams and the top team will have their team name on a plate placed on a plaque commemorating their victory.
John Zimmerman is a deceased Air Force Vietnam Combat Veteran who was an active member of the Veterans Group here on Winston Ridge. If you would like to make a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation in his name, that is certainly welcome. Please do this separately from the Bocce Tournament. There will be a Master of Ceremonies narrating the action as well as a quasi-professional Bocce Referee who will be refereeing the matches (he has done this twice before which makes him at least partially professional – right?). The tournament will be held with the assistance of the veterans here on Winston Ridge. Come out and support your team, or try your hand at throwing in competition.
