Saturday. October 21st, beginning at 4PM the Social Committee will be hosting the Chili Cook Off.  Everyone is welcome to join the FUN. There will be a prize for the BEST Chili! Please note there are still slots open if you want to join in and show off your best chili. Please RSVP by Thursday October 18th. RSVP The Social Committee will be grilling dogs and brats, so please bring a dish to share. We’ll have tents and tables set up similar to The Ridge’s May Block Party!  No beer, wine or liquor of any sort is allowed on the premises.

Bob Trojak was kind enough to offer generators to keep our Crock Pots hot at the Octoberfest on October 21st and we would like to do a trial run. Please bring your Crock Pots to the Greenspace at the corner of Scarlet Bell and Periwinkle on Wednesday the 4th at 6:30. If you cannot make it you can drop off your Crock Pot to me at 32 Sweetbay Park so we can test it. There will be 8 of us including myself and Bob Trojak. The Winston Ridge Social Committee will be introducing a new activity to familiarize residents with the parks, nature preserves and open spaces that are near our community. Our first activity, a family hike, will take place on Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 am. We will be venturing to E. Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest (701 Harris Rd.) for a 1 mile interactive hike to have some fun out in the autumn air. The path we will follow is easy, flat, paved, and is suitable for strollers and wagons. This hike is especially geared toward families with smaller children, but all family members are welcome, including furry ones (it is park policy that all dogs must be on a leash). Dear Winston Ridge Neighbors, Would you like an opportunity to come together as a Community to support community? If so, theService Sub-Committee (part of the Social Committee) has an opportunity for you! The Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry schedules GROUPS of volunteers for their Saturday distribution days (2nd and 3rd Saturday of each month). The group is limited to eight volunteers, all of whom must be SIXTEEN years of age or older. If we have more than eight volunteers, we can either split the shift, or perhaps volunteer for another Saturday. Please note that ALL work is done outdoors, rain or shine, hot or cold, so folks need to dress for theweather. All volunteers must wear closed toe shoes for safety reasons.
